Recipe: Sausage, Fig, Cauliflower, and Gruyere Cheese Flatbread

It's Summer and Friday and AKA the perfect time for flatbreads 🎉🍕 . And this particular one is about to be your new favorite thing. I promise these flavors will take your flatbread love to a whole new level. Invite your people over, pour a glass of wine or three, serve this, and thank me later 😎




Sausage, Fig, and Gruyere Cheese Flatbread


2 flatbreads (my favorites are Naan bread and Wewalka flatbread crust)

1 small cauliflower

2 tablespoons olive oil

Salt & Pepper

Italian sausage (hot or spicy depending on your preference)

Gruyere Cheese ( soo much better if you buy a hunk and grate it yourself!)

7-8 dried figs

Hot Chilli Flakes (optional, but definitely encouraged!) 


1.) Preheat oven to 400 degrees

2.) Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a large pan and cook sausage, crumbling throughout cooking process. Season with salt and pepper. 

3.) Season flatbreads with remaining 1 tbsp olive oil and place in oven to crisp a bit before topping with ingredients. About 12-13 minutes

4.) Slice cauliflower in thin slices, grate gruyere cheese, and dice figs. 

5.) Remove prepped flatbreads from oven and top with sliced cauliflower, crumbled sausage, diced figs, and chili flakes. 

6.) Place prepared flatbreads in oven for about 20 minutes, followed by 1-2 minutes on low broil to crisp.
