New Activities to Try This Winter!
As the holiday season winds down and we enter the New Year, some folks can feel a bit stir crazy staying indoors with the colder months as winter continues! As blustery outside as it might be, winter can also be a good time to try some new activities (both indoors and outdoors, depending on weather conditions). So here are some ideas:
Outdoor Activities:
Ice Skating
Sledding/Tobogganing
Building a Snowman
Snowball Fight
Skiing
Snowshoeing
Winter Hiking
Bird Watching
Creative Indoor Activities:
DIY Arts/Craft
Puzzles (jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles, word searches, etc.)
Board Games or Card Games
Creative Writing
Photography
Relaxing Activities:
Reading
Spa Night
Movie Marathons
Rewatch a Favorite TV Series
Yoga or meditation
Social Activities:
Volunteering
Attend Winter Festivals
Facetime with long distance loved ones
You may also notice that none of these activities specifically revolve around food. This was deliberate as for those who are working on their relationships to food and/or in recovery for an eating disordered/disordered eating, engaging more in activities that center around food may feel too challenging. If you’re at a place in your life where you feel comfortable exploring more activities around food, that’s fine! And if not, that’s fine too. Do any of these resonate with you?
