Non Diet Gift Guide 2024!
The holiday season is a time to celebrate and show love to the special people in your life. When it comes to gift-giving, the most thoughtful presents are those that nurture well-being, both physically and emotionally. This is why for the third year in a row, I present to you a non-diet gift guide! Previous years posts can be found here and here for more ideas.
Books:
There are so many great books available that focus on Intuitive Eating, anti-diet, body image and more. Here is a round-up of new ones in 2024, however previous posts as linked above reference other wonderful reading options as well!
The Intuitive Eating Workbook (fully revisited and updated second edition) will be dropping in January 2025! You could give a loved one a pre-order copy to arrive to them once it’s released and include the Intuitive Eating text (Intuitive Eating, 4th Edition by Evelyn Tribole and Elyse Resch) alongside it for a great bundle gift.
Live Nourished: Make Peace with Food, Banish Body Shame, and Reclaim Joy by Shana Minei Spence - this book was released in August of this year and was a great listen as an audiobook! Consider gifting a physical copy (and supporting a local bookstore as a bonus good deed) or an audiobook credit for a loved one to listen.
Audiobook subscription - as mentioned above, if someone you know enjoys audiobooks, gifting them a subscription can be a great gift for them to continue taking in content in their preferred way. Check out Libro.fm, which is an option to buy audiobooks directly through local bookstores.
Kitchen tools:
If you know someone who enjoys cooking (or even for those who don’t necessarily “enjoy” cooking but enjoy meal prepping as a form of self-care), you could consider gifting a new kitchen gadget or tool to make this easier. Some favorites of the past year include:
Silicone freezer cubes. These make prepping things like soups/chilis/sauces a breeze to pop out and reheat when needed.
Cookbooks. Buy someone your favorite cookbook and a grocery store gift card so they can pick out a new recipe to try on you.
A bento box style container. These are great for packing ahead snacks with multiple different food groups for grab and go during the week.
Reusable bags. These are great for both ingredient/meal prep and feeling more sustainable in our kitchens!
Self-care items:
If you know someone who is trying to prioritize slowing down, less screen time, more mindfulness, etc. in the new year, you could give them an item or two to help support these goals. Some ideas could be:
A weighted blanket or cozy throw
A candle or essential oil diffuser
Journals or notebooks
Fidget toys/spinners
A book of crossword puzzles or other puzzle-style activities
An arts and crafts set they can do at home such as a paint by numbers activity or an adult coloring book
The holiday season is the perfect time to gift items that promote a healthier relationship with food, body, and self. Whether it’s a book that inspires new perspectives on eating, a mindfulness tool to encourage self-reflection, or a cozy self-care product, these thoughtful gifts are perfect for anyone looking to embrace intuitive eating and let go of diet culture. When selecting gifts, remember that the most meaningful presents are those that nourish not only the body, but also the mind and spirit. Happy gifting!
